Their Performance of ‘Cursed Beauty and the Beast’ not only gained first place in the competition in which 400 schools took part, but also gained awards for Student Leadership, Costume Design and was named The Performers’ Choice, where the other schools select who they feel is the outstanding school. |

John Bradshaw, Principal, sees student leadership as central to the school’s win. “We are never prouder than when we can watch students lead each other to such extraordinary success. Rosie Drake-Knight, our Student Leader, led an exceptional team of students. Exceptional performance skills were clearly matched by wonderful support. ” June Burton, Global Rock Co-ordinator, knows that for the students their achievement was still sinking in. “Their attitude, behaviour and energy over the weekend was simply amazing! When we were named as winners, we cheered, we cried and raised the roof of Sheffield arena. Those parents and staff who were there were ecstatic!” |

The Island schools are very grateful to their Sponsors for their support, including the Isle of Wight County Council, Hampshire Police, Wightlink, Southern Vectis, Sew ‘n’ Sew and Lake Parish Council. All of our sponsors and parents were invited to join us for a celebration reception at school on Wednesday 15th July. There were so many people who we needed to thank and congratulate and we wanted everyone to start the summer holidays knowing how very proud we are of what they have achieved! |
