Geography
The main value of Geography is that it teaches about the world we live in. Many transferable skills can be gained from Geography such as independent learning, literacy, numeracy, cartography and problem solving. Geography allows students to gain a clear, overall view of the world today. The development of ‘awe and wonder’ will allow students to fully appreciate and learn from the world around them.
- At KS3 we study a variety of topics including; “A Passport to the World”, Japan, India, The EU and Global Ecosystems. GCSE students study the AQA syllabus, this includes topics such as Natural Hazards, Coastal Environments and Urban Environments. A Level students study the EdExcel syllabus and study topics such as The World at Risk, Energy Security and Global Super Powers.
- Field trips are an exciting part of Geography that all year groups have a chance to experience. Trips running this year include a three-day residential trip to Dorset for AS students, a day trip to the Natural History Museum for A2 students and a day trip to study of the coastal environments of the isle of Wight for GCSE students.
