ICT Curriculum
Information and communication technologies are now a crucial part of modern life. Almost everyone is affected by them, directly or indirectly. Information & Communication Technology (ICT) forms part of the National Curriculum and is offered to all Year 9 students who study for a Functional Skills qualification. We also offer Applied ICT (double award) for those who wish to opt for this in Years 10 and 11 and also offer an OCR National Certificate in the sixth form.

Key Stage 3:
All students have one period of ICT per week. Students are taught by a subject specialist who aims to get students through the Functional Skills qualification, which will help throughout the whole curriculum. ICT teaching groups are small enough to guarantee each student access to their own computer during lessons.

Key Stage 4:
Students can take this as one of their option choices in Year 10. The Applied ICT award is a popular choice, which is mainly over subscribed, but we have managed to keep group size down to enable all students to access their own computer during lessons. This has been particularly successful due to the introduction last year of Functional skills.

Key Stage 5:
Students will be able to study the OCR Certificate in Years 12 and 13. We have recently started this and it has become very popular indeed. In some cases, students currently in Year 12 have begun to study the OCR National Diploma.ICT forms a major part of a students learning in school and the use as a learning tool as skills gained to become useful throughout the curriculum.
