In Year Nine the study of music is based through practical projects including:

  • African drumming
  • Keyboard Skills
  • Minimalism through ‘Tubular Bells’
  • Improvisation through ‘Toccata and Fugue’
  • Singing and vocal awareness
  • Beat boxing and Rap
  • Spoken Music
  • Composition and group work
In GCSE we study the EDexcel course which includes:
  • Structure in Western Classical Music
  • New directions of classical music through the twentieth century
  • Popular music in context
  • African, Indian and Fusions

We also study the Edexcel A-Level course here at Sandown High School.

Extra-curricular groups include:

  • Chamber Choir

  • Orchestra / Concert Band
