Baylink School Victory at IOW Primary Games!

Congratulations to the Baylink Primary school team who, cleverly disguised as the Caymen Islands, gave a magnificent performance in July’s IOW Primary Games to become the 2009 Champions!

Wins in Cycling, Basketball and Rugby gave the team a huge boost, but strength in depth was apparent with a second in Athletics, third in Netball and Football, and fifth in Tennis. However, victories like this do not simply ‘happen’. The Olympic values of respect, friendship, excellence, inspiration, determination, courage and equality were never more evident in our teams who trained over eight weeks to ‘peak’ for this event.

On behalf of all the 80 primary students who took part, could we say a huge thank you to:

Our team coaches:

  • Natalie Romain and Gavin Oldridge (Athletics)
  • James Hayden (Basketball)
  • Tanzie Page and Petra Saunders (Cycling)
  • Jess hinton and Toni White (Girls Football)
  • Fleur England (High Five Netball)
  • Jon Miselbach (Rugby)
  • Linda Jones (Tennis)
  • The PE department at Sandown High for the use of all training facilities in the run-up to the games
  • Sandham Middle school for their release of Mr Hayden
  • Community Sports Officer Senad Adams for helping to organise all the training sessions,
  • Parents for all their support in the run-up to the event and on the day

Thank you to you all!
